About fifteen books and publicist articles by the poet and playwright Olimjon Xoldor have been published. He is also known as a singing poet, and music has been composed for over fifty of his ghazals. In 1992, Olimjon Xoldor was awarded the title of Honored Artist of Uzbekistan.
The poet Olimjon Xoldor was born on September 18, 1932, in Kulla village of Buloqboshi district, Andijon region.
He studied first in an incomplete secondary school, then at the pedagogical college in Andijon.
After graduating from the Fergana State Pedagogical Institute, he worked first as a teacher at a school, then as an editor at Andijon Radio, and later as a correspondent for magazines and newspapers.
From 1968 to 1983, he led the Andijon branch of the Writers' Union of Uzbekistan.
Olimjon Xoldor's creative work began in the 60s, and his first book of poems was published in 1965 under the title «Arg'uvon tagida» (Under the Judas Tree) under the editorship of the master Mirtemir. To date, about fifteen of his books and publicist articles have been published.
Specifically, collections such as «Andijon Suluvi» (Beauty of Andijon) (1968), «Oshiqona» (Love Poems) (1970), «Kaftimdagi Tuproq» (Soil in My Palm) (1972), «Andijon Bahori» (Spring of Andijon) (1976), «Subhidam qo'shiqlari» (Songs of Dawn) (1977), «Kumush kosa» (Silver Bowl) (1979), «To'yona-to'yona» (Gifts for the Wedding) (1982), «Er farzandi» (Child of the Earth) (1986), «Senga intilaman» (I Strive for You) (1986), «Davrani kengroq oling» (Make the Circle Wider) (1990), «Ko'ngil» (Heart), «Armon» (Regret), «Ko'z tegmasin» (May the Evil Eye Not Touch) (1992) have been published. He also created lyrical-epic works such as «Men - Andijonman» (I Am Andijon), «Andijon samosi» (Sky of Andijon), «Kelajakdan bir sado» (An Echo from the Future), «Subhidam qo'shiqlari», «Gulruxsor», «Kumush kosa», «Karvon qo'ng'irog'i» (Caravan Bell), and «Roz» (Secret).
The poet also dabbled in dramaturgy, creating dramas such as «Qotil kim?» (Who is the Killer?), «Sevgi afsonasi» (Legend of Love), «Lola» (Tulip), and «Boboruh». Most of the poems included in the aforementioned collections by the poet are about the vast valley and its hardworking people, depicting human beauty and their spiritual world. In his later years, Olimjon Xoldor also tackled major epic genres, presenting works such as the novella «Ko'ngil», the three-part novel «Arosat» (Limbo), and «Mo'jiza» (Miracle) to the readers.
